Une histoire d'amour avec Puducherry

My little 'travel bug' and I were in Pondicherry last summer. There is a lot of inspiration to be found in every corner of this sleepy coastal town near Tamil Nadu. Narrow little lanes, cobbled streets, antique stores and colonial bunglows waiting to be discovered. The french colonial influence, apparent in its architecture juxtaposed with Indian elements makes for interesting eye candy. Here are some snapshots from this short trip....

Although this trip was disastrous in more ways than one, these pictures are a reminder that I have the ability to find beauty and joy in the worst of circumstances. A quality that has enabled me to persevere no matter what the obstacles. Not unlike this little town of Pondicherry which has managed to retain its inherent 'desi' flavor inspite of centuries of colonization by the French, the Dutch as well as the British. I can never get enough of this quaint little town and hope that my love affair with 'Pondy' never ends and I keep going back for more.

Pondicherry is a town in the Indian union territory of Puducherry.
